Alongside the Bengali Short Play Competition, the 11th Dum Dum International Theatre Festival is also being organized.
We received applications from many well-known theatre groups from across India and abroad for this festival. The response was encouraging and far beyond our expectations. However, we were able to invite only a limited number of groups this year.
One of the main reasons is that 14 theatre groups from West Bengal will be presenting their productions at the festival. In addition, several groups from other Indian states and from abroad, who had initially applied, were unable to provide final confirmation due to certain technical and logistical constraints at the last moment.
As a result of pre-booked venues, limited performance slots, and technical limitations, we could not accommodate many deserving groups. This has been truly painful for us, as it also means we will miss the opportunity to witness several excellent productions.
We sincerely apologize to all the groups whom we could not invite this time. We hope you will understand the circumstances under which these decisions had to be made.
We warmly invite all theatre practitioners, groups, and supporters to join us as audience members during the three days of the festival and encourage the selected teams with your presence. Entry to the festival will be free and open to all audiences on all three days.
We truly hope to collaborate with many more of you in future editions of the festival.
