Rabindra Nagar Natyaayudh, India is proud to announce the 11th Dum Dum International Theatre Festival (Shambhu Mitra & Bijan Bhattacharjee Smriti Natya Utsav), 2026, a prestigious event dedicated to the legacy of two of the most influential figures in Bengali theatre, Shambhu Mitra and Bijan Bhattacharjee. Through this international theatre festival, we celebrate their innovative contributions to the world of theatre, blending urban drama with traditional folk tales and music.
The festival serves as a platform for national and international theatre groups to showcase their work, and invites performances that highlight both modern and folk-based theatrical traditions. We aim to continue their vision by organizing seminars and workshops on their creative ideologies, preserving their memory and furthering the conversation around contemporary theatre.

Location: West Bengal, India
We invite theatre companies and individuals from around the world to submit applications to participate in this festival, which has previously featured performances from esteemed national and international theatre groups from India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Italy, the West Indies, the United States, and other Indian states such as Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Maharashtra, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. Renowned theatre companies from across West Bengal have also been an integral part of the festival.
We also welcome theatre professionals who wish to participate in workshops or seminars to reach out to us. We look forward to your participation in this celebration of the rich legacy of Shambhu Mitra and Bijan Bhattacharjee.
