Dr. Dani Karmakar is a playwright, actor, theatre workshop instructor and artistic director of West Bengal, India. He is working in this field more than 20 years. He has completed his B.A, M.A, M.Phil. & Ph. D. in Drama from Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata. He has qualified UGC NET in performing Arts-Drama. He was appointed as State Junior Research Fellow and State Senior Research Fellow in the Department of Drama of Rabindra Bharati University. Now he is a Guest Teacher in the Department of Drama of Rabindra Bharati University.
He has trained under the guidance of many eminent theatre masters like H.Kanhilal, Sabitri Heisnam, Rajendernath, Bhaskar Chandavarkar, Shaktinath Jha, V. Ramamurthy, Ramgopal Bajaj, Dr. Mahendra Kumar, Birjit Naganomba, Bibhas Chakraborty, Rudraprasad Sengupta. He participated at “Young Theatre Artists Workshop”, which was conducted by Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi at Shantiniketan on 2004. He has directed more than 20 plays. He is an Editor-in-Chief of ISSN registered Peer Reviewed theatre journal ‘Theatre Dunia’.
He has coordinated and attended many International and National theatre workshop and seminar in China, Bangladesh, Nepal and India. He has received many awards like “Rang Bhushan Smman”, “Natya Bibhushan Samman” and “Rajaniprabha Smriti Puraskar” for his Theatrical Excellency.
